The Greatest Love Story

Titanic, The Notebook, kdramas, those movies and stories about great and true love. Tell me about it. This world has been offering us great live stories. Yet while we are still searching and enjoying the bliss given by these man imagined stories, the greatest love story ever happened in mankind was already demonstrated 2000+ years ago on Mount Calvary.

When God made man, He was delighted. He even made us in His own image (Genesis 1:26). It is because of God why we have our own will, wisdom, emotions and feelings superior to that of the other creatures on earth.

And because of our own free will, sin came to us.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
Genesis 1:26 ESV

This is the love story between man and God which sin tried to destroy.

The Villain

The story of Adam and Eve tells us about the fall of man into sin. This is the first spiritual death of man. God has blessed them with everything that they ever needed but they were not contented.

They didn’t have have enough from what was provided. And so they disobeyed God and took part of fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2-3).

Because God is just and sovereign, He gave us the punishment of sin which is our physical death and cursed us with spiritual death. Spiritual death is our separation from God caused by sin. Yep, it’s the villain in the story.

We are dead before God and thus it is impossible for us to have a relationship with Him, to communicate with Him, and please Him.

What could a dead man do anyway? We humans are dead in our sins (Ephesians 2:1). What right do we have to call Him our Father?

After our lifetime, we are bound to be thrown to the lake of fire and experience the never ending pain from the fiery pit of hell. That’s what we will gain from sinning.

But what could we do? We are sinful in nature, and in even in our behavior. There is nothing we could do to save ourselves. More than sinful, we are powerless.

While payment is needed to remove our sins, adding up all the good things in this world could never pay for all our sins, let alone a man’s single sin. Good deeds, religions, cults, someone else’s life, those can never atone for our transgressions.

What is needed to pay for our sins then? Only by the blood of a perfect human being could be offered in exchanged for our sins. But in this world, no one’s perfect. Everybody is a sinner (Romans 3:10).

Villain Defeated

The thought of sin and hell must be killing us already but fortunately and thankfully, God is not only a just God but is also merciful, gracious and a loving God. He loved us so much that He made a way for man to be spared from its own wrong doing.

And that love did not only cost God a little thing but He gave up His own son, Jesus Christ to be the ransom for all (Ephesians 2:4-6), the perfect man to be sacrificed to offer us salvation.

While God sent His own son just to be shouted, scorned, a shamed upon, Jesus completely accepted and obeyed His father for the love of mankind.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 ESV

Imagine how sinful you are. How many times do you sin each day, in a week, and sum it up in your lifetime. Yet God perfectly planned salvation for us and Jesus completely demonstrated that plan.

Even I could never give up my life for myself,

. . .how much more for anybody, or any stranger who doesn’t even know me, and who, I am sure, is a sinner?

We don’t deserve it but Someone paid the price! What a great, beautiful and sweet love!

He was crucified at the cross on the Mt. of Calvary and His overflowing blood serves as the ransom for all that we have done, and even the sins in our future. He was buried and on the third day, He rose again to prove that He is the son of God.

Jesus defeated sin and death!

The Restoration to Happily Ever After

God made His decision on the other side of the relationship. He made the way to reconnect with man. He defeated the sin that separated them.

Yet there will never be a restoration if we, on the other side, won’t choose to hold His reaching hand. God did not strictly impose this relationship to everyone. He is not dictatorial.

I believe that if you’re reading this right now, God is definitely waiting for you to receive His love and enjoy life with Him. He wants you to have a relationship with Him through His son Jesus by faith. He delights to be your Father and would love to welcome you as part of His family.

He is inviting you to accept His son Jesus Christ as your savior, that He died to save you from your sins.

When you do, after this lifetime, we are given the right to be with our Father in heaven for eternity, where there will be no more sadness, adversities, troubles and burdens.

Oh dear friend, I want to see you in heaven and worship God with you.

Receive Jesus Christ today and experience a happy ever after forever.
